Segrest Sold to Central Garden & Pet Company (NASDAQ:CENT)

Founded in 1961 and headquartered near Tampa, Florida, Segrest is the largest and oldest wholesale distributor of freshwater and saltwater aquarium fish in the Western Hemisphere.  In addition to ornamental fish, the company distributes small animals, birds, reptiles, aquatic plants, coral, and live rock to the $60 billion U.S. pet industry.  The company’s size, global sourcing, and highly differentiated capabilities provide the scale and flexibility to effectively serve the diverse needs of over 2,100 customers annually, which include “big box” pet retailers, regional pet store chains, independent pet stores, and other wholesalers, as well as zoos, aquariums, and research institutions in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
